    Great video! Thanks. It has me rethinking if we should be rafting (we have the option to all be in self-support packrafts). We love technical boating...but the risk of breaking stuff and having to pay for it out of pocket seems not worth it. You guys are on company gear and getting paid to do this, right? Additionally, I am fairly short - only 5'3", and I just went out and checked and I can't ship both of my oars like you do. My arms are literally not long enough and we can't configure the towers/oars/angles to make it so. It seems like a bad idea...though I love the idea of it. So torn! How long are your oars? Thank you again! Much appreciated.

    The blade seems to be made to saw-through rope. A knife with a filet sharp blade would be a hazard in a rafting environment. If that’s the kind of knife you want, there are plenty of them on the market.

    Something tells me that if you recalculate using 1.618 rather than 1.63, you'll get better results. It's the Golden Ratio. Just a hunch. Curious what you think.

    My Axiom that I purchased last spring lasted only about a year. Two of my coworkers got it was well, and the zipper failed on both of theirs. I sent mine into NRS to get the very leaky feet repaired, and they sent it back just as leaky as ever. This is only after one season of use. Heavy use, to be fair. Then I sent it into Fluid Strokes, where they did a pressure test and found major de-lamination occurring on the back, advised me that it wasn't worth fixing. Just purchased an IR drysuit that I'm really looking forward to, would not recommend this drysuit to anyone. I do like the bright colors though. Made me feel safe.

    Looks great at this level! At 2.5' at the beginning of July, there was no way to get right of that sharp fin at the top of HHM; it was a tight chute far let with most boats bumping and grinding in some way or other. Velvet was nice with multiple lines open.

    The late US military versions (not made by scepter) have a different vent valve. However, there is replacement air bleed valves for the real scepter made cans. Search: Vent Cap for the Scepter MWC Military Water Cans. I have no idea if they would also fit the US GI cans. The US GI air bleed valves are made so they cannot easily come out and get lost. They are 3 pieces. there is a base that goes in from the inside of the cap an outside cap/nob and a plastic cross pin that goes through holes in both of those parts.

    This gets really complicated really fast. Women boaters get told they are not "ready" for river sections ALL THE TIME. I've had people tell me "you know there is whitewater on this river" while I am gearing up for my local class II river (when I am setting up my whitewater canoe with float bags, drysuit, helmet, rescue PFD, etc) that I train on. I've had people on the water say something to the effect of "that chick should not be here" sometimes to my face, sometimes to the guy (of course to a guy) next to them (but of course loud enough that I can hear them). I've had people grill me at the put in and at the takeout about where my boyfriend is (my husband does not boat) and criticize my gear all the while interrupting every answer I give - in other words, they are not interested in my actual gear or experience. I've had public officials skip over me (the permit holder, trip leader, and lead boater) to ask the next person coming down the river (a guy) where we are camping that night. And heaven forbid I actually make a mistake - that proves their point that I am under qualified (even if they just made that EXACT same mistake that I did a rapid earlier). Nowhere are they sincerely asking me what my experience is or having a genuine conversation. Be CAREFUL to not be sexist with your assumptions. Please and thank you :)

    • @GearGarageTV
      @GearGarageTV 15 дней назад

      The Rapid Rung should only be used when there is no moving current. These techniques are important for rivers with current.

    Bottom right line was pretty smooth at 2.3 ft. Day we launched many people struggled to make that move left. It’s cool to see the progression of this rapid over the season! How was the big pointy rock at the top of Hells at 2ft? Could people still sneak the right side or do you have to go left?
